Canal Post 25, R.C. DuPont Aviators Split

Post 25 jumps out early to get the win, but R.C. comes back in the 2nd Game

Canal jumped out to a two-run lead in the first inning, then RC’s Spencer Read hit a two-run homer in the top of the fourth to tie the score. 

Canal’s bats lit up in the bottom of the fourth inning with six runs, led by Alex Weber who hit two doubles on the day for three RBI’s.  Canal’s Dylan Lenard held RC to six hits over 5 1/3 innings recording four strikeouts; and Garrett Alexander came in to finish the game for Canal, holding RC to one hit and striking out three.

Game 2:
Canal’s Mikayle Holloway slammed a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to tie the score at three.

In the top of the seventh, critical errors from Canal allowed RC to score three unanswered runs to seal victory in game 2, and split the doubleheader.  RC’s Trevor Jump came in to pitch in the middle of the bottom of the sixth, and finished the game by holding Canal batters to no runs or walks, and recorded three strikeouts.

Post 1's Bats on display against the Aviators

Post 1's Ryan Bradigan threw a complete game shut-out, striking out 9 and allowing only 3 hits. Oliver Campbell had 3 hits, including a triple, and 5 RBIs. Brian Gilardi and Dan Murphy both doubled for Post 1.  Mousley had 2 hits for RC Dupont.

Niemann threw a complete game shutout,  giving up just four hits and striking out two. 
 
Spencer Read and Nick Sargent lead the offense with multiple hits each.

R.C. Dupont has been fielding a team in American Legion Baseball since 1947.

The Post, named for famed Delaware Aviator Richard C. Dupont, was chartered after his death in 1945 . 

You can read a history on Mr Richard C. Dupont on the Delaware Aviation Hall of Fame Website.  He was inducted into the hall in 1992 and a history on him is on the team website
