A Bases Loaded Walkoff Hit Batter Earns the Win over Fox Post 2

Fox Post jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Canal battled back when Colton Duckworth led off the third inning with a home run over Middletown’s left field monster, followed by two more runs on a single from Mason Keene and a double from Jake Walls.

In this up and down game, Post 2 scored three runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by Kyle Comegys’ RBI single, then put up another run in the top of the seventh to elevate the score in Post 2’s favor by three runs.

But in the bottom of the seventh, Post 25’s Duckworth, Keene and Walls all singled to load the bases, and Joey Lungen smashed a double to left center to bring in all three baserunners.  With the game tied, the next two Canal batters walked to load the bases again.  Kyle Schneider stepped in the box and was hit by a pitch to bring in the “walkoff walk.” An unexpected ending to this hard-fought game, but just like the first meeting between these two teams, one run decided the victory.

University of Delaware's head baseball coach, Jim Sherman, attended the game and witnessed some quality American Legion Baseball.
