The third meeting between Fox and Canal were just like the first two, with the winner decided by only a run.
After Post 2’s Evan Harris scored a run in the bottom of the third off of Miguel Rivera’s single, Post 25 came back with three runs in the fifth, including a solo HR by Joey Lungen, followed by a double from Mason Keene, an RBI single by Alex Weber, and an RBI triple off that bat of Jack McDermott. Fox answered back in the bottom of the fifth with four runs, highlighted by a three-run homer off the bat of Mikey Carrington.
Canal’s Joey Lungen hit another solo shot HR in the top of the sixth (his second on the night) to close the gap to one run. In the top of the seventh, Post 25 batters drew back to back walks, and runners moved to second and third base. A deep sac fly to center field by Ryan Bond knocked in the tieing run for the second out of the inning. A well-executed single by John Weglarz over the head of the the third baseman brought in the go-ahead run. Post 25’s
Mason Keene closed out the bottom of the seventh, three up and three down, handing Canal the hard-fought victory between two evenly-matched teams.
