About the Patriots

The Post 6 Patriots have been a force in Delaware American Legion Baseball since they rejoined the league in  1999 under the direction of former Seaford HS Standout Gary Waller.

They sponsored the Delaware State Tournament (2001), which they won and ran a 4th of July Tournament for several years.

They now enjoy support from their sponsoring American Legion Post, one of the more active posts in Southern Delaware. Post 6 is no stranger to Legion Baseball - they sponsored teams in the league prior to 1970.

They play their home games at Seaford HS, on of the finest high school fields in the state - the center field fence is 391 feet from home.

The Patriot's players come from the Delmar, Indian River, Laurel, Seaford, Tech and Woodbridge High Schools.

Post 1, Patriots Split a DH

By rsl 06/15/2019, 10:45pm EDT

Post 1 scores 11 in the first game, Post 6 11 in the second

Delaware Post 1 started both games of a twin bill at Seaford by scoring a run, and the Nanticoke Post 6 Patriots answered, but that was where the similarity ended.

In the First game, Post 1 took advantage of two errors, one on a wind blown fly ball to go up 2-0 in the first. The Patriots answered with one, and the game settled into a close contest until a disputed play in the outfield where the original call of out was reversed - leaving the bases loaded with 1 out, instead of the inning being over. Post 1 went on to score 4 runs, and the Patriots couldn't answer.

Post 1 got another 4 in the 4th, and added the 10 run rule last run in the sixth. Dalton Reid got the complete game win, Kris Medford took the Loss for the Pats, in a game with 5 errors, and two double plays.

In Game 2, Post 1 again got up 1-0 in the first, but the Patriots answered with 5 as the first 5 batters reached base, and scored, giving the Patriot's pitcher, Kobe Heineke all the runs he'd need to win.

The Pats added 2 in the 2nd and Post 1 added 2 in the 3rd. But the Patriots answered with 1 more run in the 3rd, and added insurance runs in the 5th and 6th inning.

Heinicke settled in and shut out Post 1 for the last 4 innings to earn a complete game win. Post 1's started Jeremiah Glavin took the loss.

There were no extra base hits in either game, and several players had multiple hits on the day. The day ended with both teams on top of their divisions, holding down an early 1 - 2 seed in the league.

Patriots get Win #2

A Big Inning for both teams surrounds a Pitching Duel

Post 6 Patriots pitcher Brian Bullock scattered 7 hits and allowed just 2 earned runs as the Nanticoke Post 6 Patriots held on for a 10-8 win over Fox Post 2 in Camden, Tuesday.

After 2 innings, Fox led 2-1, but Fox Starter Andrew Rigby struggled with control, walking 6 in 2 2/3 innings. He was tagged for 6 runs on 2 hits, and turned the game over to reliever Brandon Hatch with the bases loaded.

Hatch gave up a double to Evan Strickland, and a single to Brian Bullock, his 2nd of the inning, giving up 2 runs before striking out DeShawn Sample. The Pats scored 2 more in the 4th on Kobe Heinicke's single between first and second, but that was all as Hatch settled in and pitch shutout ball the rest of the game.

Bullock pitched through the 6th, and was relieved by Ryan Bishop, who struggled with control, giving up 5 runs (4 earned) on 3 hits, making the score 10-8, with the tieing run on second.

Trace Hitchens then came with 2 on and 2 outs, and got Joe Carpenter to pop up to first base to end the game, earning a save.

Mike Carrington and Byron Freeman doubled for Fox Post 2, Caleb Smith and Evan Strickland for the Patriots. Pitcher Brian Bullock batted 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI.
