Stahl Wins a tough game

Both teams had lost part of their Family

It was a heavy hearted game at Wilson field between Del Vets and Stahl Post. Del Vets jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in top of the first inning. Stahl Post put up 2 runs in the bottom of the first and settled in to get the win 8-3.
Last week, Delvets manager Mike Buono lost his mother after a long battle with cancer. Her funeral was Wednesday.
Then last Friday came word that long time Stahl Post 30 manager Robert "Bob" Anderson had died suddenly. Anderson had been involved with Stahl Post 30 and our league for decades. His funeral is today, Thursday July 8th at the Spicer-Mulikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. Dupont Parkway, Wilmington Manor. Stahl Post 30's game with the Post 10 Generals has been postponed so the team can attend.

A Bad Week as we try to come back to "normal"

Last Week, DELVETS Post 1 Manager Mike Buono lost his mother, Kathleen Buono.

Most of us probably don't remember her, but she used to cheer her son Mike when he played Legion Baseball for Delvets all those years ago. Her funeral is scheduled for Wednesday.

Then, over the weekend came the word of the sudden death of long time Jos. Stahl Post 30 manager, Bob Anderson.

Bob was the SAL representative on the Delaware American Legion Baseball committee, and had been the manager of the Stahl Post 30 since the late 1990's. He was an outstanding baseball manager, who took his team to the playoffs every year, and whose teams usually played in the final game of the championship most years, winning  8 during his tenure as manager.

Funeral services are expected to be Thursday at the Spicer-Mulligan funeral home.
