Nanticoke Post 6 Patriots sweep Stahl Post 30

A Pitchers Duel followed by a Slugfest highlights the Saturday DH

Game 1: Nanticoke Post 6 - 1, Stahl Post 30 - 0: The Nanticoke Post 6 Patriots' Jordan Haddaway pitched a complete game 1 hit shutout that was only spoiled by Stahl's Matt Hammond's double in the 7th Inning. Haddaway struck out 9 (vs 5 walks) and had a no-hitter going into the 7th. Both teams turned timely double plays as well.

Justin Gray's 480 foot solo Home Run to left center in the 4th Inning, was the only score in the game.

Game 2: Nanticoke Post 6 - 10, Stahl Post 30 - 7: The second game started very differently as both teams pounded out 6 runs each in the first 2 innings. Starters Dustin Sutton (Stahl) and Evan Niblett (Patriots) were rocked early, giving up a total of 7 extra base hits, but both found their groove in the 3rd with the score tied 6-6.

Evan Niblett only gave up one additional run, a Nate McVey home run in the 7th. Sutton allowed Post 6 to take the lead in the 4th on a 2 out walk and a couple of singles but kept the Patriots from expanding their lead until the 6th inning.

Post 6 bats exploded in the 6th as Matt Warrington, Dylan Layton and Dylan Niblett all doubled, combining with a 2 out walk to drive in 3 runs that proved to be the insurance needed.

Noah Covington came in to finish the last out of the game (Niblett had reached the Pitch Count Limit) and earned a save. See the Schedule Page stat recap for all the hits.
