The Department of Delaware American Legion Baseball Committee has decided to expand the field of the 2018 State tournament to the top 8 teams based on league play.
"We looked at the schedule, and regardless if we play a six or eight team tournament, it would still take 5 days." according to State Chairman Roy Lamberton. "In addition, the top 2 seeds would not play a game until Monday of the tournament. "
"We decided under the new 7 Inning game format, we could play the entire tournament on one field, and all 8 teams would be in action during the first 2 days of the event. The idea is to send our best team to the Mid Atlantic Regional, and that requires a team to play at least 5 games."
The 2018 State Championship Tournament will start July 21st at Wilson Field in New Castle, Delaware. The host team is Stahl Post 30. (article edited July 2nd)
Game 1: In a finish to a game that was tied after 7 Innings, Post 1 scored in the top of the 8th, and held on to take a 9-8 win over Post 10.
Game 2: Eric Ludman hit a bases loaded single past a diving 3rd baseman to drive in 2 runs and walkoff Post 10 in extra innings 4-3. Chris Ludman defeated Joey Silan in an excellent pitchers duel. E

Moyer, who took the loss, still struck out 11, vs 1 walk, but the Post 6 bats were silent, and the General's won the game.
Austin Warrinton homered in the 2nd to take the lead, Kevin Buglio and Josh Venti both doubled as the Generals used the long ball to take an overwhelming lead by the 5th Inning.
Game 2: Another Pitcher's Duel - as Nick Zigna took the hill for the Generals, and Tret Toppin (who had finished the first game) stayed on the mound for the 2nd game of the DH.
